The housing bubble popped
painfully in many popular second-home areas - including Borrego
Springs. Median values fell 10% to 20% in the past year alone
and are expected to bottom in the next 12 months.
According to Money Magazine,
April 17, 2009 Borrego Springs, CA ranks #3 as one of the best
places in the US to buy an affordable vacation home.

What it's like: This desert community near San Diego sits
in the middle of 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego State Park, with
hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback
riding.
