Warren F. Young
Warren Franklin Young, 85, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 in
Rancho Mirage, Calif. Mr. Young was born in Barry, Pennsylvania. His
parents were the late Daniel and Elverna Young. He worked in
Allentown as a theater manager and truck driver. He served in World
War II in the Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot. After the war, he
continued in aviation as a commercial pilot flying DC3 aircraft. He
married Eloise Field (Toni) and raised their family in Wilmington,
Delaware.
In 1958, they moved to San Diego, Calif., and to Borrego Springs,
Calif., in 1973. He was the airport manager and Sky West agent. Mr.
and Mrs. Young were involved in starting the Sunrise Players and he
helped start the Borrego Springs Flying Club. He was a popular actor
with the Sunrise Players, known for his amusing accents and classy,
self-possessed stage presence. He was also active with the Borrego
Kiwanis. After Mrs. Young passed away, he remarried Elsa Chambers of
Borrego Springs in 1996.
